Jake's Newsletter
April 1, 2010

Jake will complete his second month of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy on April 2nd. The experience has been rewarding and challenging at the same time. It’s been challenging due to Jake’s motivation, determination and ability to “go” all of the time, even when he’s in a chamber that’s the size of a sleeping bag. On the rewarding side, he continues to surprise us daily with his advances. Click to see videoHave you donated?

As mentioned last month, Jake has learned to open doors. He has mastered opening them now even with the Toddler Security Protectors on the doorknobs. Watch the video by clicking the link or the picture to the left.

His Gait Trainer walking has improved beyond belief and he was caught waving to someone for the first time ever. Check it out. We do plan to sign him up for another treatment of HBOT. In the meantime, we’d love to extend an enormous thank you to the Fowler family and all of their volunteers. The Fowlers welcomed us into their home every day where we received treatment free of charge. Therapy would not have been possible with out the wonderful volunteers there. Please visit their website more information.

Jake’s mom continues to train for the New Jersey Marathon wile fundraising for Cure CMD. Her goal is $2000 and she’s getting very close to achieving it. A Big THANKS to all of you who have been so supportive. A special thanks to Jen's friends and family who are not only joining her in New Jersey, but especially those running with her. Jake and dad are staying at home, but wish they could be there. We not only appreciate you joining her in our absence, but also the commitment to Cure CMD. The runners have also joined the team to raise funds. See them here!

Jake was rapidly growing out of the old van as his head was so close to touching the roof that his hair had already started to hit the ceiling upon entry. We were able to get Jake exactly what he needed thanks to the very special people who originally donated his previous van to him.

We continue to be amazed at the generosity of people on a daily basis. Thanks to all who follow our family and Jake’s journey!
